Tell Me Thursday!!

1. Where were you born? Did you grow up there?

I was born in the German district of Jordan Valley, Oregon.  I grew up next door to a basque which is where I was introduced to clams at a tender age. I would describe it, but I'd have to show you on a menu.  It's quite touching. LITERALLY. My parents were both next door to Basques also.  They say this sort of thing repeats itself.

2. How did you come to end up living where you are now?
To make a long story short, I drove to the City once when I was in high school, to get new shoes because my old ones were falling apart - my mom always made my brother's and my shoes out of old sausage and bread (Snitzelshoeden) and it was getting to be spring so the birds were hot on my trail....and I stopped into a market to buy bird seed JUST SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO KEEP KICKING CATS AND THOSE AUDIBON HIPPIES OUT OF MY PATH... so I was in this store and then I bought the seed but it was too late, my shoes had been eaten CLEAN OFF MY FEET! So I went back to Jordan Valley because in those days I thought NO SHOES NO SHIRT NO SERVICE was embarrassing as I wasn't sure what a SERVICE was or whether I had one.
Turns out it depends.  I didn't at the time.  And I STILL DON'T.

I was hungry and the birds had eaten my lunch shoes. I returned to Jordan Valley, but only for a few hours.

I moved to Caldwell to be closer to NO SERVICE.

3. What is the most unusual trick you have taught your dog? Or the most unusual animal you have taught tricks?
I taught Tess to vote in the last election because I really didn't have an opinion, but I think she does.  She's such a bitch.  It's legal for dogs to vote in Owyhee County, Idaho, as LONG AS THEY ARE WORKING DOGS.  You can't bring your cockadoodle or your snauzle mix to the polls, don't even try, DUWAYNE!  'Working' doesn't mean can fetch your asthma inhaler, or dinner, but you have to pry it out after you've chased it down.  'Working' doesn't mean acts all sad when you do, either, REGINA.  Working is what my dogs do, and so they get to pick our next president and whether we get recycling in Homedale.  Except I live in Wilder now, so...shit!

4. What is the most unusual food you enjoy?
Probably my holiday shoes.  Most people don't like all the frosting, with chorizo...but I do!

5. I know this has been asked before, but I'm always looking for a great book to read so what was the last book you read? Did you like it? Would you recommend it?
I don't read 'books' as you call them, or 'fancy bricks' as we call them in Jordan Valley.  I do enjoy billboards and menus though.  Last night I read one on the way home, a billboard, that talked about Don't Text And Drive.  It had a big picture of a hand and one of those phones that don't have DIALS....I had to read it 3 times and almost ran into a semi.  I'm still shaking my head on that one, but I've never trusted those buttons, so .... it is what it is.
